Great Court Race now open to staff
For the first time, UQ Sport has introduced a UQ Staff Relay as part of the annual Great Court Race. Sure to generate a lot of healthy rivalry across campuses, both male and female divisions will compete for glory by covering an entire 636 metre lap of the Great Court with four runners running irregular legs of 145m, 156m 155m and 180m respectively.
There are great prizes up for grabs so staff are encouraged to put a team together and give it a go. Entry costs $28 per team for the relay and closes at 5pm on Wednesday, May 15. The heats will take place from 1pm on Wednesday, May 22, with the finals held the following week from 1pm on Wednesday, May 29.
Vice Chancellor’s address to all staff
Professor Peter H inaugural address UQ: Foundations for the Future will provide staff with an opportunity to hear more about the Vice Chancellor’s vision for UQ and allow you to share your thoughts on the organisation. Please join the conversation and help define the University’s future from 10am on Friday, May 31, in the Exhibition Hall of the UQ Centre (building 27A) at the St Lucia campus.

Thank you from Vice Chancellor and Senior Deputy Vice ChancellorWe thank all staff who attended one of the six open sessions to discuss the results of the 2012 survey of workplace culture and how we move forward to a better workplace culture for staff throughout our university. You will be notified when a video presentation is also available. The challenge now is to harness the vision of our engaged colleagues into a strategy that will foster positive workplace experiences for staff across the University and then to make the strategy work.
Now that we have heard and read your frank suggestions, questions and home truths, we are more confident that there is a groundswell of determination to build a better workplace culture. As we have said before, it may not be practical to implement all staff suggestions, but they will be considered.
A better workplace culture will not emerge overnight, and progress may ugg australia seem slow at times.
Some staff provided feedback about the working group that we established earlier this month, and we are now further considering its composition. We want as many staff as possible to have confidence in this group.
By far the most valuable response so far in 2013 has been the initiative shown by hundreds of staff who attended the open sessi ugg australia ons, emailed us, or both.

Brazil visa processing delay
UQ’s Corporate Operations Unit wishes to advise staff that the Brazil Consulate Sydney has increased its visa processing delay to 30 business days. This a ugg australia ffects residents of Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales. Please consider this a minimum issuing delay and apply well in advance of travel.
