vinegar even picante sauce add spice to cole slaw
Several of our readers sent us their favorite recipes for cole slaw, and so we offer an interesting mix of shredded cabbage dressed with either mayonnaise or vinegar. One even uses a picante sauce to spice it up a bit.

Mix all ingredients except cabbage, carrots and onions. Add remaining ingredients, toss until evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Serves 6 to 8. (This recipe is from a Betty Crocker cookbook.)

The name reflects “the usual reaction to this recipe. It comes from the cookbook ‘Sacramental Magic in a Small Town Cafe’ by Brother Peter Reinhart.” Sigler
1 head cabbage, grated or shredded or 2 bags slaw
1 1/2 cups good mayonnaise like Hellmann’s. (“Do not us ugg boots clearance e low fat or fat free. Good slaw needs the texture of real mayo. ugg boots clearance I usually use Kraft, but Hellmann’s is thicker and makes a better dressing for ugg boots clearance slaw.” Sigler)
1/2 cup granulated white sugar
1 teaspoon coarsely ground fresh black pepper

Salt to taste about 1 1/2 teaspoons for us
Grate or shred your slaw as thinly as possible. In a bowl, combine it with the onion. I like to mix the dressing ingredients separately to combine them well. Add to the cabbage and let it sit for an hour before serving.
